Problem

When starting E-WMS (Pick-IT) in Internet Explorer, the following error occurs:

    This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!

Reason

This message is the contents of the file default.aspx. This file should be executed and not be shown this way. This means that IIS is incorrectly configured on how to handle the file

Solution

Please check the following conditions on the E-WMS IIS server.

Default document

The file default.aspx must be present in the list with default documents.
It does not have to be the only or first file in the list, but removing the other default documents (like default.htm, default.asp ..) may force IIS to re-validate this setting and still solve the problem, if default.aspx is already in the list.

IIS 6 (Windows XP, 2003)

Choose Start/Run, type INETMGR and press Enter. Go to the properties of your web site, tab "Documents".
 

IIS 7 (Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008)

Choose Start/Run, type: INETMGR and press Enter. Click on your web site and click on "Default Document" in the right panel.

 

If 'default.aspx' is not listed here, please add "default.aspx" manually to the list.

ASP.NET configuration

Make sure, ASP.NET is correctly configured for the web site.

IIS 6 (Windows XP, 2003)

Choose Start/Run, type: INETMGR and press Enter, go to the properties of the E-WMS site and choose tab 'ASP.NET'
Please make sure that "ASP.NET version" is not empty but filled with "2.05xxx" or higher.

 

IIS 7 (Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008)

Please have a look at the following documents:
